Get Lost in Cardiff... Grangetown

Early last year I got a super email from the organisers of Love Grangetown, Shop Grangetown. Consisting of Grangetown Community Action, Cardiff University’s Community Gateway Programme and Cardiff Business School, they aim to bring local businesses and volunteers together. They had seen Get Lost in Cardiff Map + loved the idea! They wanted us to get involved with a similar project to encourage and invite people to shop locally in Grangetown. Of course, me and the Get Lost in Cardiff team were super keen!

Grangetown is one of Cardiff's most vibrant and multicultural neighbourhoods and sits right on the cusps of the city centre. Some of Grangetown's independent business gems may still remain less well known that those in other parts of the city, but one thing's for sure and that's that Grangetown is a colourful mixture of small, ambitious businesses. From Cardiff's most famous pie shop to award-winning veggie food studios, this new Grangetown map aims to shine a light on these amazing businesses delivering products, services and longstanding relationships that you just can't get from a big chain.

I've loved discovering incredible new businesses. I have been working my way around the map, from a recent eye test at Direct Eyecare (did you know they have three locations in the city?) to munching on delicious vegetable balls in cashew and garlic sauce in the Vegetarian Food Studio - YUM! With my obsession with making and DIY, Clarence Hardware was always going to be up there with my favourites, a proper old school DIY shop. And, location 18... the now award-winning The Grange is the place to hang out in Grangetown! I can't wait to keep exploring the map and getting to know all these awesome new businesses and long-serving establishments.

You can pick up one of these Grangetown Get Lost in Cardiff maps from any of the listed locations, plus in a few fellow indie businesses. Go, explore and support local!
